Qld Legislation requires that smoke alarms must be installed in the following locations:
- On each level
- In each bedroom
- In the hallways that connect bedrooms and the rest of the dwelling
- If there is no hallway, between the bedrooms and other parts of the level; and
- If there are not bedrooms on a level, at least one smoke alarm must be installed in the most likely path of travel to exit the dwelling.
All Owner-Occupied homes must have interconnected smoke alarms installed by 1 January 2027.
All rental properties must have interconnected smoke alarms installed. Within 30 days before the start of a tenancy, the lessor/landlord must test and clean each smoke alarm in the home. O’Brien Electrical & Plumbing Coopers Plains can test and provide a Certificate of Compliance.
